Website redesign

Got a website that’s not pulling its weight? I redesign existing sites for businesses across the UK: a fresh design and a faster, tidier build, with your content carried across and your old links redirected. One designer from the first call to launch.

Time for a redesign?

Most of the websites I redesign aren’t broken. They’re a few years old, were built in a hurry, and are quietly losing work to the competitor next door. If any of these ring true, it’s time.

  • Your website looks like it was built in 2019, because it was
  • It looks fine on your laptop and falls apart on a phone
  • Your business has moved on and the website hasn’t
  • Visitors arrive, scroll, and leave without getting in touch
  • Every small change means chasing whoever built it
  • You’d rather not put the link in your email signature

nothing left behind

What a redesign includes

  • Fresh design

A new look designed around your brand, not a template with your logo dropped in. Your existing content, moved into it.

  • Structure & navigation

Pages reorganised so visitors find what they came for. Obvious where to go, obvious what to do next.

  • Mobile first

Most of your visitors are on a phone. The redesign is built for that screen first, not squeezed onto it afterwards.

  • Speed

Old sites collect heavy plugins and unused code. Yours gets a clean build that loads fast.

  • Redirects

Every old address pointed at its new page, so old links keep working.

  • Content moved over

Pages, blog posts, images and forms, all carried across. Nothing lost in the move.

  • Brand refresh, if needed

Fonts, colours and imagery updated if the brand needs it. Or kept exactly as they are, if it doesn’t.

  • Training & handover

A walkthrough of the new site so you can run it yourself. Or I run it for you, every month.

Custom Build to Squarespace

True Capital

True’s custom-built site had become difficult and expensive to maintain, and it no longer explained a business that now spans advisory, venture capital and public equities. I redesigned it on Squarespace: a clean, scrollable homepage, a clearer content hierarchy and a more sophisticated look, on a platform the team can update themselves without the running costs of a bespoke build.

Squarespace Redesign

Negative Emissions Platform

NEP’s old Squarespace site had grown messy, with content added over the years and no structure holding it together, and it no longer matched the scale of their mission to advance permanent carbon removals. I redesigned it on their existing brand guidelines: one clear message, three strategic pillars up front, and dedicated sections for policy, funding and demand, with a blog and newsletter sign-up in place of the scattered updates.

Which platform
is it on?

It doesn’t matter what the old site was built in. It matters what the new one should be built in, and that depends on what the site has to do and who’s going to run it.

  • Squarespace website redesign

Already on Squarespace? I redesign Squarespace websites from the ground up as a Platinum Partner: a full template change, a move from 7.0 to 7.1, or a fresh design on the site you’ve got. You keep your account, your domain and your content.

  • Moving from WordPress, Wix or Webflow

Outgrown a page builder, or tired of things breaking every time a plugin updates? I move sites onto Squarespace with the content and URLs mapped across, so nothing’s lost and old links keep working.

  • Custom code, run for you

Need something faster, or beyond what Squarespace can do? I redesign it as a custom-coded site on the Managed-For-You plan: hosting, updates and security handled for you every month, with no build fee.

your old links, redirected

Nothing lost in the move

The thing people worry about most, and the thing that most often goes wrong. A careless redesign breaks every old link overnight: pages moved with no redirects, so customers and Google land on dead ends. A redesign isn’t an SEO project, and I won’t promise you a ranking. What I do is the part of the move that matters: every old address mapped to its new page, on every redesign.

  • Redirects

Every old address mapped to its new page, with a 301 wherever it changed.

  • Same addresses

Page addresses stay as they are wherever they can, so most links never change.

  • Content carried across

Pages, blog posts, images and text moved into the new design.

  • Your domain stays put

Same domain, same email addresses. Nothing changes for your customers.

  • Speed & mobile

Faster pages and a proper mobile layout on the new build.

same prices as a new build

How much does a website redesign cost?

Straight answer: the same as a new build, because a proper redesign is one. Agencies typically charge £5,000 to £15,000 for the same size of site, and a DIY template refresh costs the platform fee plus your evenings. Here’s where I sit, with no “price on application”.

Custom website redesign

From £3,000 / one-time fee

The site you’ve got, redesigned from the ground up and handed back to you, with your content carried across and your old links redirected.

  • The redesigned site is yours outright
  • One fixed fee, agreed before work starts
  • Content, URLs and redirects migrated
  • A handover session, so your team can edit it

How the redesign works

Three stages, from the first look at your old site to the day the new one replaces it. I do the audit, the design and the move myself, so the person who found the problems is the one fixing them.

  1. Step 1 of 3

    Audit & direction

We start with the site you’ve got: what’s working, what isn’t, and what’s worth keeping. Then I share the new direction, with layout ideas, so you know exactly where it’s going before anything is built.

  2. Step 2 of 3

    Redesign & build

The new design comes to life: fresh layouts, your content moved across, and any new pages or features built in. You see it as it takes shape, not just at the end.

  3. Step 3 of 3

    Migrate, test & launch

Redirects mapped, every page tested on phones and laptops, then we switch over. After launch I check every redirect is doing its job, and you get a handover walkthrough so you’re confident running it.

Who’s doing the redesign

I’m Nick Croce, a UK web designer and Squarespace Platinum Partner. Most of the websites I work on aren’t blank pages. They already exist, they’ve picked up visitors and rankings along the way, and they’ve stopped pulling their weight.

Plenty of the 250-plus sites I’ve launched were rebuilds: Squarespace 7.0 sites brought up to date, Wix and custom-coded sites moved somewhere the team can actually manage, tired brochures turned back into something that brings in enquiries. So I look at what’s already working before I change anything.

You deal with me from the audit of your old site to launch day and the weeks after it, when the redirects need checking. No account manager, no hand-off to someone who never saw the old site.

and I’ll tell you if a refresh would do

What clients say

“Nick built the Waters Agency website, and I couldn’t recommend him more highly. He quickly understood what we wanted to achieve and translated it into a polished, professional site that reflects our brand brilliantly. He was creative, responsive and straightforward to work with throughout the entire process. The website has continued to run smoothly since launch, and Nick has always been helpful whenever we’ve needed support. A talented designer and a genuinely great person to work with.”

Declan WatersDeclan WatersLondon, UK

“We’ve had an outstanding experience working with Nick. From day one, he brought a level of care, precision, and creativity that’s hard to find. He quickly understood what we were trying to achieve and consistently delivered high-quality work — on time, with great communication throughout. Nick doesn’t just build websites; he solves problems, adds value, and genuinely feels like part of the team. We’re genuinely thrilled with the results and look forward to working with him again. Highly recommend!”

Patrick SmithPatrick SmithManchester, UK

“Nick was fantastic to work with. He finished the work well before the scheduled deadline, and he was more than available for any questions/assistance with the site edits. He's fast to respond, and can help with step-by-step instruction for anything that you are unfamiliar with. He provided instructional videos, and continued support after the job is done. Highly recommend Nick as a site developer.”

Andrew ThompsonAndrew ThompsonCalifornia, USA

“Unhesitatingly recommend Nick! He absolutely knocked our project out of the park. From start to finish, he was collaborative, communicative, and incredibly knowledgeable about Squarespace. He was proactive, responsive, and genuinely invested in the project's success. We look forward to working with him again in the future.”

Jason LetteboerJason LetteboerBrighton, UK

“I highly recommend Nick, it was an absolute pleasure to work with him. I had previously engaged a different company to complete our website and had been disappointed with the outcome. Nick was able to built exactly what we wanted, adding some of his own flair - which ended up being our favourite parts of the website! During the design process Nick understood our vision well, he took on board all of our feedback and was able to implement it quickly. He is very professional and provided short videos to explain the development of the site at each stage which was helpful. We would definitely work with Nick again.”

Rachael LewisRachael LewisHighgate, AU

“I'm thrilled with the work Nick did on our website. He took our vision and turned it into a stunning website that truly reflects our brand. He was friendly, responsive, and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the final result. I would highly recommend Nick to anyone looking for top-quality web design work. Thank you for your hard work and dedication!”

Good questions, straight answers

no such thing as a silly question

How much does it cost to redesign a website?

A full redesign with me starts from £3,000 as a one-off, with the site yours to keep, or from £150 a month on the Managed-For-You plan with the redesign included. Agencies typically charge £5,000 to £15,000 for the same size of site. The final figure depends on how many pages you have, whether you sell online or take bookings, and whether the words and brand need refreshing too.

How long does a redesign take?

A typical redesign takes around 3 to 4 weeks. It depends on the size of the site, the level of change, and how quickly content and feedback come back. Smaller sites can sometimes be done in 1 to 2 weeks.

Will a redesign affect my SEO?

It can if the move is careless, which is why I keep your page addresses the same wherever possible and set up 301 redirects for any that change, so old links and search results still lead somewhere. Nobody can honestly promise a ranking, and anything beyond the redirects, such as keyword work, sits in the separate SEO Growth Plan add-on.

Can you redesign my site without losing content?

Yes. All your existing content, including pages, blog posts, images and text, is preserved and moved into the new design. The goal is a fresh, modern look without losing any of your content along the way.

Can I keep my domain and my web addresses?

Yes. Your domain stays yours and stays put. Page addresses stay the same wherever they can, and where a page has to move, a 301 redirect sends visitors and Google to the new one. Nobody lands on a dead link.

Can you redesign a WordPress, Wix or Webflow site?

Yes. The site doesn’t have to be on Squarespace to start with. I redesign sites coming from WordPress, Wix and Webflow, moving them onto Squarespace or onto a custom-coded site on the Managed-For-You plan, with the content and URLs mapped across as part of the job.

Can you redesign my Squarespace website and change the template?

Yes. As a Squarespace Platinum Partner I redesign Squarespace websites from the ground up, so a template change, a move from 7.0 to 7.1, or a completely new design on your existing account are all on the table. Your domain, content and account stay as they are.

Do I need to start from scratch?

Not necessarily. In many cases I can refresh your existing website while keeping your current content and structure. If the site is outdated, cluttered or built on an older platform version, a clean build can be the better option. We’ll decide together based on your goals.

Redesign or refresh: which one do I need?

A refresh keeps the structure and updates the look: new fonts, colours, imagery, a tidier homepage. A redesign rethinks the structure too: which pages exist, how they’re organised, and what each one is for. If the business has changed since the site was built, it’s usually a redesign. There’s a longer answer on the blog, and we can settle it on the first call.

Ready to redesign the site you’ve got?

A redesign from £3,000 with your content carried across and your old links redirected, or from £150 a month with the redesign included and the site run for you. One designer from the first call to launch.
